Education:

Our current Education Committee Chair is Nussy Merchant. Agave Quilters Guild has many experienced and talented quilters who are eager to share their knowledge and experience by teaching various quilting classes each month. These classes are for guild members only and take place in our Oakwood Sewing Room (OSR) on the 3rd and 4th Thursdays from 9:00am-4:00pm. The cost per student is $15 (full day class or $7 half day class) and is paid directly to the instructor. This is a great way to meet new quilting friends and learn a new technique at the same time.

We sometimes will bring in outside instructors (non-members) to teach a class. If you are not a member and happened upon this page and would like to be considered to teach a class, please contact Nussy Merchant. Thank you!

March 20, 2025	Free Motion 1 & 2 (full day class) You will be introduced to the wonderful world of free motion quilting. In the morning class you will learn the basics and in the afternoon class you will be more adventurous experimenting with different styles.	Cathy Hawthorne
Feb 20, 2025	Storage Pillow A unique way to store a sleeping bag, extra blankets or other items when space is at a premium, such as a camper or dorm room, to give a couple of examples. Jan 16, 2025	CELEBRATE - Table Runner 18" x 50" Paper piecing (for the bows) and straight stitching. This is a great project for using up scraps. Sep 12, 2024	SUN PAINTING You will need one yard of muslin cut into 4 fat quarters, an 18x20" hard portable surface (cardboard, foam core, mat board works well), plastic to cover surface, small brushes, plastic gloves and lots of flat objects to be used as your dye resists. Dyes, water buckets and a few brushes will be provided. Wear clothes suitable for painting.	Art Quilters Friendship Group
