2009 Programs

December 2009:
Agave Quilters Guild Holiday Luncheon and a Christmas House Tour.

November 2009:
The famous duo of Audrey Waite and Dee Lynn who operate Quilt Camp in the Desert and Quilt Camp in the Pines will give us a great take on the advantages of their classes taught by international names in the quilting world. We will also be treated to samples of their own work.

October 2009:
Gail Straka aka Strip Club with Gail Straka will present Using your Stash . A former instructor at the Quilters Ranch, Gail has published several patterns geared to breaking down that ominous pile of scraps and strips you've been saving for a fiture project. Don't miss this one!

September 2009:
Our program is by Ray Steeves, an owner of 3 Dudes Quilting. He talked about the quilt shop and his partners. He demonstrated fabric used in quilts and how the differences in choices changes it. The shop offers Challenge Blocks every other month and awards a $25 store gift card to the winning entry. Blocks are made and donated by the customers for the quilts and the block winner gets to choose the charity that the quilt is to be donated. Two of these quilts were displayed. Ray also told us about the shop's use of local pattern makers with a demo of these patterns. He mentioned their Jo Morton Club and her fabrics.

June - July - August: Happy Summer - no meetings were held!

May 2009:
Agave Guild member, Darlene Miller, is scheduled to present her trunk show.

April 2009:
Agave Quilters Guild Spring Potluck Luncheon with Agave members' Show and Tell, organized by Doris Fairbanks.

March 2009:
Karen Housner, Arizona Quilters Guild member, is a certified quilt appraiser with an outgoing personality. She will share lots of information regarding the judging of quilts.

February 2009:
Marla Hattabaugh, art quilter and member of Arizona Quilters Guild, designs her own quilts and machine pieces them, but finishes them with hand quilting. With a quick sense of humor, Marla is a great entertainer.

January 2009:
Beth Glass, president of the Tucson Quilters Guild, has a varied background including applique, Celtic applique, Sashiko, and Fabric dyeing. Beth is a teacher and designer. She loves quilting and mentoring new quilters. When Beth isn't sitting with a needle in her hand, she is tending her horses.
