2019 Programs

December 2019:

Agave Quilters Guild Holiday Luncheon. Members celebrated the holiday season with a festive luncheon at Palo Verde. They enjoyed friendships, good food, fun games with prizes, and Show and Tell inspiration to start off the New Year with new ideas and incentives for quilting.

November 2019:

Valerie Boman of White Picket Fence Quilts in Chandler was our speaker for November. Valerie is an NQA certified quilt show judge, experienced teacher, and long arm quilter. Her patterns and books included pieced, appliqued, and embroidered quilts. She presented a trunk show displaying pieced applique and hand embroidery quilts designed and made by her and also brought books and patterns for purchase. Guest fee $5.00.

October 2019:

Our special guest speaker is a national teacher, award-winning quilter, designer, publisher and member of the Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame. She has designed bargello and pieced quilts and will be speaking about bargello quilts that are two and three colors, along with color changes. Her presentation will include both bargello and pieced quilts and her patterns will be available to purchase. Guest fee $10.

September 2019:

Our special guest speaker was Raymond Steeve, one of the founders of 3 Dudes Quilting. Early in Raymond's quilting journey, he discovered a simple, fun, and easy way to make quilts that he dubbed the "Let's Strip It" method. The result was 20 plus original designs and patterns. He has toured with trunk shows and taught classes featuring the Let's Strip It method. Raymond presented a trunk show and brought products for purchase.

May 2019:

Our very own guild member, Dennie Sullivan, will present a trunk show of her quilts. Dennie's talent and craftsmanship were represented in each amazing and wonderful quilt.

March 2019:

Pat Knoechel, National Speaker from Quilt In A Day and sister of Eleanor Burns, introduced Eleanor's newest book which takes you on a trip down memory lane. The book features quilts in all sizes, plus memorabilia photos of family and friends, all while teaching you how to make 17 different quilt blocks in 12" and 6" sizes. Pat will also present the Roundabout Stars quilt. While this striking quilt design gives the illusion of curves, the magic is in the Star Point, which is all straight lines, and made with her Triangle in a Square Ruler. Guest fee $5.00. Products will be for sale.

January 2019:

Our program speaker is Gary Darwin from PM Quilting & Laser Works, Inc., a full service quilt shop and manufacturer of laser cut and etched quilting rulers in Casa Grande. PM Quilting originally began in Palmer, Alaska. They later moved to Sunburst, Montana and in the spring of 2018, moved to Casa Grande in search of a warmer climate. PM Quilting products will be on hand for sale.
